Mirror Past, Window Future

Project Location: Apex, North Carolina
Client: Wake Remodeling

As the artist entrusted with capturing the 150-year history of Apex in the form of a mural, I embarked on a creative journey that transcended time. The created mural is a captivating narrative, skillfully fusing two distinct periods – the past rendered in evocative black and white, and the present bursting forth in a vibrant spectrum of color. This artistic juxtaposition served as my canvas for time travel, allowing me to breathe life into historical moments and celebrate the contemporary spirit of Apex.

In the monochromatic portrayal of the past, I delved into meticulous details to recreate key historical scenes. The use of black and white evoked a sense of bygone eras, inviting viewers to connect with the rich heritage that laid the foundation for present-day Apex. Each stroke became a deliberate homage to the town’s humble beginnings and significant milestones.

Transitioning to the present, I introduced a kaleidoscope of color to capture the modern vibrancy of Apex. A street scene rendered in vivid detail, embodied the dynamic spirit that defines the town today. The fusion of black and white with color became my artistic language, symbolizing the seamless continuum of time and the enduring community identity that has shaped Apex over its remarkable 150-year journey.

This mural, from my artistic perspective, became not just a visual spectacle but a living testament to Apex’s resilience, growth, and the harmonious interplay of history and contemporary life. It is an invitation for residents and visitors alike to immerse themselves in the intricate tapestry of time that weaves together the past, present, and future of this vibrant community.
